Clever, witty, entertaining, amusing, eclectic, refreshing…... Born Marvin D Phipps, Marvin was raised in Chicago, Illinois. With a mother who was a hard working devout Christian and 8 brothers and sisters (who are all one year a part), Marvin’s entire childhood was a stage in which each child was fighting for the spotlight; “we all are funny.” While talking about his family, comedian Shawn Wayans once said, "Dinner itself was funny because we didn't have nothing to eat. So we had to crack each other up for dinner in order to fill each other up," a quote which Marvin relates to and understands so well; “it was rough, we didn’t have money to go to the movies, so we entertained ourselves by talking about each other.
Marvin was always a fan of comedy, loving comedians like, Steve Harvey, Martin Lawrence but it was not until 2007 when Marvin visited a local Chicago Comedy Club that he realized that he too had a story to tell and it was one that would make the world laugh. Marvin’s comedy is moved by real life and he prides himself on “speaking the unspoken.” In his 3 years of comedy Marvin has worked with the best of the best, opening for the Tonight Show’s Deon Cole and Tracy Morgan, as well as performing in Comedy Clubs across the country. Marvin is a young man who possesses the “it factor,” and in his own words is a “Young Beast,” ready to grind and do what it takes to make it to the top.
